From Deadman's Trail

Heritage and Trail Committee

Hey, Sixty-eighters!

Brian Bishop, AOG Board Director and committee chair of the Heritage and Trail Committee is asking for a volunteer to serve as a non-director voting member of the H&T Committee. Anyone wanting more information or to volunteer can contact me or Brian Bishop (brian.bishop@aogusafa.org).

Duties of the committee include:

• Promoting and preserving the legacy of the Academy through the accomplishments of its graduates.

• Developing AOG heritage policies and projects for Board approval.

• Reviewing proposals from classes and individuals for new heritage programs and projects; determining whether the proposals comply with AOG policies and objectives; and making recommendation to the Board.

• Representing the class, the individual and/or the AOG on proposals approved by the Board and presented to the Academy through the Memorial Board or other requisite Academy councils, committees and approval authorities.

• Advising the AOG Board and the Academy on the Academy-generated heritage policies, programs and projects. Association of Graduates Bylaws.

• Evaluating all requests to place names on the Graduate War Memorial Wall and making recommendations to the AOG Board

As far as a time commitment, it really depends on if the H&T committee has an on-going project. Right now they do not. Time commitment right now would be once a month or so on a Zoom committee meeting call. They may ask for a little more if someone needs to do a little research on a name for the Memorial Wall for example.

Cheers,

Randy Helms ‘79
