The Russell Family 2009 Holiday Letter

2009 was a very interesting year here in Las Vegas for the Pat Russell's.
VETTE UPDATE:
The LeMans blue 2006 Corvette is almost 4-years old and currently has 52,000-miles on it. We continue to be involved with the Las Vegas Corvettes Association (LVCA). Pat is the Club's webmaster (www.vegasvettes.com) and Nita is helping with the communications committee. Our events this year included an Awards Banquet, Superbowl Party, President's Run to San Simeon, with snow at Tehachapi Pass CA, drag racing for Pat, helping with the Corvette Roulette Event and the Nevada Open Road Challenge at Ely, NV. Also there were charity events, visiting the Sun Belt Auto Collection, Baseball Game, Car Shows, Wine & Cheese party, Dyno Day and a Cookie Exchange. We really enjoy all the activities and Friends in LVCA.
FAMILY NEWS:
Son Jim (40), Michelle, Joe (14), Katie (11) and Steve (8) are all in Tempe AZ. Joe is an 8th grader and is Student Body President of Our lady of Mt, Carmel School and plays the saxophone. Katie is in the 6th grade and loves sports. Steve is a 3rd grader and is learning the violin. Michelle keeps busy with the usual "Mom Activities" - car pooling, Girl Scout Leader, school helper and supervisor of their kitchen remodel. The kids are growing up fast and continue to make us proud of their accomplishments.
Son Andy (36), Spon and Naomi (2.5) live in San Ramon, CA. Naomi is growing up fast. She loves talking on the phone with PaPa and GrandMa Nita. We visited them in April and kept very busy following Naomi to play dates, shopping and playing outdoors. The big news for Andy and Spon is a new addition to the family due next summer.
Daughter Kathy is with us in Las Vegas and stays busy as a RN at the St. Rose-San Martin Hospital. She also enjoys socializing with her many friends from work and high school.
Pat & Nita enjoyed driving the Vette to Taylor NE in June for the 6th Britton Cousins Reunion. There were approximately 80 cousins, spouses and children celebrating our family ties. Pat has put together a website, www.brittoncousins.org, about the gatherings. In September we celebrated Pat's 45th Bishop Gorman HS Reunion up at Mt. Charleston with about 45 classmates and spouses attending to reminisce old music, old times and mostly old friends. To promote the reunion Pat built a class website - www.bghs64.org. As 2009 was drawing to a close, the Andy Russell's came to Vegas for Thanksgiving and the Jim Russell's were able to visit us a few days before Christmas. Both Great Grandmas Russell and Britton were able to visit with the kids. Nita's Mom (83) moved this year from Ft. Madison IA to Henderson NV. Pat's Mom (87) still lives in the family home here.
NEW DIGS:
The really big news for 2009 is that we finally closed on a new house at 945 Rhyolite Terrace in Henderson. In February we signed a contract to buy the house as a "short sale" and it dragged on until we closed on December 21st. The house is a dream home for us. Pat gets a 3-car garage and outdoor kitchen and Nita has a great kitchen, laundry room and Jacuzzi tub. The house has so many features that it was impossible to pass up. We hope to have most of the move completed by the end of January. If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas - come and visit us.

We wish you all a prosperous and healthy 2010!
