The Russell Family 2011 Holiday Letter

2011 was a very interesting year in Henderson for the Pat Russell's.

FAMILY NEWS:

Son Jim (42), Michelle, Joe (16), Katie (13) and Steve (10) are all in Tempe AZ. Joe is in the 10th grade and doing well at Brophy HS, a Catholic boy's school in downtown Phoenix and enjoys the debate team. Katie is in the 8th grade and is Student Body President of Our lady of Mt, Carmel School and loves sports. Steve is a 5th grader and is avid sports fan. Michelle keeps busy with the usual "Mom Activities" - car pooling, Scouts, and school helper.
Son Andy (38), Spon, Naomi (4.5) and Jonah (1.5) live in San Ramon, CA. Naomi is growing up fast and is doing well as the "Big Sister". Jonah is a ball-of-fire, running all over the place and just beginning to talk. We were pleased to have visits from both the Tempe and San Ramon Russell's as well as us making trips to see them this past year. Daughter Kathy lives in our old house in Las Vegas and stays busy at the cancer clinic where she is a primary nurse for one of the doctors at the clinic. We were saddened by the loss of Nita's Mom (Ethel Louise Holmes Britton) in March - we were fortunate to have her living close to us for the past two years and there was a nice burial service for her we all attended back in her home town, Ft. Madison, IA in June. On our way back from Ft. Madison we stopped for a few days in Taylor, NE in June for the 7th Britton Cousins Reunion. There were approximately 90 cousins, spouses and children celebrating our family ties. Pat has maintained the website, www.brittoncousins.org, for the past two years and was encouraged to keep it going. Pat continues to support the local USAFA Association of Graduates Chapter as webmaster and was able to make two trips back to the Academy - one to attend the 2011 Distinguished Graduates functions and another to represent the local chapter at the AOG Chapter President's Conference. Pat now has maintained his Academy Class Website for five years now and is looking forward to providing support for the Class Reunion in 2013.

VETTE UPDATE:

The LeMans blue 2006 Corvette is almost 6-years old and currently has 74,000-miles on it. We continue to be involved with the Las Vegas Corvettes Association (LVCA). Pat remains the Club's webmaster (www.vegasvettes.com), and this year took on running the Club's support of the two 90-mile open road races up in Ely, NV - also he co-chaired the Club's premier annual event, Corvette Roulette. Pat and Nita hosted an Indy 500 party at our home - celebrating the 100th anniversary of the race along with rasing money for the USO. We continue to enjoy the social, driving and charity events Vegas Vettes puts on along with all our Friends in LVCA.

OUR HOME:
We are enjoying our place in Henderson more all the time. The neighborhood location is very quiet, yet convenient. Nita is still working on setting up the place - with the latest effort being a sewing area in one of the bedrooms. Pat installed a car lift in the garage, which he likes very much. We've enjoyed having folks over and guests stay - if you are planning a trip to Las Vegas - come and visit us.

We wish you all a super New Year!

Pat & Nita
