The Russell Family 2013 Holiday Letter

2013 has been a very nice year in Henderson for the Pat Russell's.

FAMILY NEWS:
Son Jim (44), Michelle, Joe (18), Katie (15) and Steve (12) live in Tempe AZ. Joe will be graduating next year from Brophy HS, and Katie is a sophomore at Xavier HS – Brophy (boys) and Xavier (girls) are Catholic high schools in downtown Phoenix next door to each other. Steve attends 7th grade at Our Lady of Mt Carmel and is an avid soccer fan, along with his Dad. Obviously, Jim and Michelle stay very busy and are currently searching colleges with Joe. Katie likes sports and has her learners permit. Son Andy (40), Spon, Naomi (6.5) and Jonah (3.5) live in San Ramon, CA. Naomi is growing up fast and likes being a first grader, while “little brother” Jonah attends a day care school. Andy, joined the City of Dublin as City Engineer earlier this year and likes being closer to home. After going back to work for a couple of years, Spon is back as a full-time Mom. We were pleased to have visits from both the Tempe and San Ramon Russell's as well as making trips to see them this past year. Daughter Kathy (35) moved out of our old house in Las Vegas (now Pat’s project is to get it sold) and stays busy at the cancer clinic where she is a primary care nurse for one of the doctors at the clinic. In June we drove the Vette to Taylor, Nebraska for Nita’s family bi-annual Britton Cousins Reunion. This was our sixth one and it had the most attendees since the first one in 2001. From Taylor NE we drove to Ft. Madison IA to spend a few days visiting more of Nita’s relatives. Pat has maintained the Class of ‘68 Academy Website (www.usafa68.org) for seven years now and provided support for the 45th Class Reunion in October 2013, which we attended. He still maintains websites for the Britton Cousins (www.brittoncousins.org), his High School Class (www.bghs64.org) and the local USAFA Association of Graduates Chapter (www.usafaclasses.org/lasvegas). In December, we returned from a 15-day cruise from San Diego, through the Panama Canal, to Ft Lauderdale with three other couples from our Corvette Club. It was different to have Thanksgiving Dinner on a ship docked in Guatemala. We have yet to decide which cruise will be next.

VETTE UPDATE:
The LeMans blue 2006 Corvette Convertible is almost 8-years old and currently has 93,000-miles on it. Pat has been very impressed with the new Stingray and received permission from Nita to get a new one, probably a coupe, in 2015. Nita’s primary ride is the 2002 Avalanche which is still in nice shape – Pat lowered it this year both for looks and making it easier to get into. We continue to be quite involved with the Las Vegas Corvettes Association (LVCA). Pat has been the Club's webmaster, for six years, (www.vegasvettes.com), and continues to lead the Club's support for the two 90-mile open road races up in Ely NV in May and September. Besides the many social and driving events, we enjoyed a multi-day Club event in Ventura CA in February.

OUR HOME:
We are enjoying our place in Henderson more all the time – we’ve been in the house almost four years now. Pat is still finishing off his outdoor work area, and Nita is considering some minor decorating changes to the inside. Our neighborhood is extremely quiet, yet convenient. We enjoy having visitors and guests stay with us - we have a nice guest room. If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas – call and come visit!

Wishing you a memorable Holiday season!
