From Deadman's Trail

The Torreano Family 2019 Christmas Letter

2019 was a busy year for Mimi and Mark, as we sold our condo in Honolulu and moved to Colorado Springs, where Mimi's brother and Mark's brother live. It also puts us much closer to Mark Jr and Marcy and our grandchildren. In fact, one granddaughter lives nearby in Ft Collins, Colorado. Mark Jr lives in northern Virginia with his wife and daughter while Marcy and three grandsons live in Jupiter FL. We are fortunate that our grandsons are able to fly by themselves to visit us using free passes supplied by their father, who is now a pilot for Delta Airlines.

We have adjusted pretty well to moving from sea level to 7,000 feet altitude and from tropical weather to Colorado's more extreme and chilly weather. However, we are renting an apartment until we decide if we want to live here permanently.

Other options include Arizona and Florida and we spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Florida with Marcy and our three grandsons. Nick is now 19 and attending college while living at home. He is a pilot now! He has about 350 flying hours, is a certified flight instructor and has an instrument and multi engine rating. He teaches student pilots now and his plan is to fly for a commercial airline as soon a possible. Perhaps he will also enter the Air Force Reserves and do part-time flying for the AF.

We also spent 10 days in Tucson and Phoenix to look into places we might like to live and will probably visit again in the new year.

Mimi is busy with friends she made when we lived here in the 1980s and is spending time with her brother as well. We also are happy to be able to spend time with Mark's brother and his wife, along with some of their children and grandchildren. And we enjoy watching the Academy football team and Mark is able to spend some time with the Academy gymnastics team, which he competed on when he was a cadet in the 1960's

Mark has been playing pickleball quite often with the large group of players here in Colorado Springs, including his brother who is a bit better than him . . . for now

Mimi and Mark send our best wishes to you for a happy and healthy 2020!
