The Morgan Family 2021 Christmas Letter

This is my best effort at a Christmas letter:

Felix and Ruth Morgan

Felix and Ruth Morgan had a very full and blessed year in spite of this “recent unpleasantness.” We began the year with a New Year’s Worship service in our Home Church. In spite of our governor’s onerous mandates, we worshiped mask less, sang praise songs, hugged, and took communion from a common chalice. Afterwards the 10 of us shared a meal together. We have continued to worship every Sunday since in a similar fashion. Our extended family continues to do well. Together Ruth and I have 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. My eldest grandson, who lives in Orlando, is now in his second year of Community College. I also have two granddaughters in high school, one a freshman and one a senior. They are both part of a drill team, and their band and drill team won the state competition. I also have grandson and two granddaughters that live here in Albuquerque.

One of the best things that happened to me (Felix) this year is that I have begun to read again. One of the first books I read was “Robert E Lee and Me” by Ty Seidule, BG, ret., USA and former head of the Department of History, USMA. I read this at the suggestion of a former student of mine, who is also a BG, ret., USAF. I had a problem with the book, although written by a native Virginian, because he labeled Lee as a traitor. Afterwards I read another book about Lee called “Lee the Last Years” by Charles Bracelen Flood. This calmed me down, some. Given our leaders in Washington, I became interested in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Another book I began re-reading was “Original Intent, The Courts, the Constitution, & Religion” by David Barton. I next read in one day, “The Constitution Made Easy.” This book is spiral bound and has the original words of the Constitution on one page and the Constitution in today’s English and with appropriate amendments inserted in the correct position. The same day I read the Constitution, I also read the Declaration of Independence in about a half hour. I also read a Kindle sample of “What Really Happened in Wuhan” by Sharri Markson. I previously had seen a YouTube video by the same name. Another interesting book that both Ruth and I are reading is “The Real Anthony Fauci; Bill Gates, Big Pharma, and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health,’ by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In addition to readings I have resumed again to transcribe my Father’s diary from World War II. It is all written in small cursive, and covers his career from July 6, 1942, when he was inducted, through February 24, 1944, which is his last entry when he was at Accra, Gold Coast (now Ghana.) My father was a cryptographer and handled the wire messages that coordinated the Casablanca conference. After crossing the Atlantic, he spent his entire time in Africa – Gold Coast, Congo, and Oran.

Also during this “recent unpleasantness” I learned how to Zoom. I was the host on several virtual meetings of a church men’s group. I also participated, and occasionally led, another Zoom for the Kairos Prison Ministry I also participated in a weekly Zoom meeting for what is called a Senior Coffee Group. Yet another Zoom meeting was every other Sunday with some missionaries we support in Kosovo.

One of the worst things that happened to me this year is I was hospitalized at the local VA hospital for 3 weeks. I went in for one diagnosis and upon entrance was tested for COVID-19 and was positive. I was tested twice more and was positive once more and negative last. Never, never did I have any symptoms. In discussion with Ruth we concluded that I perhaps had a slight cold!
