The Buono Family 2022 Christmas Letter

Dear Friends and Family;

Another year has passed – post Covid – or is it? As we look back on the previous year, it seems there is common ground with what we have done this year – and that is good! We started the year with a trip to Disney to walk a 10K for fun and do some visiting with friends in Florida.

Heather has a weekly gathering with her knitting friends so she has continued producing beautiful sweaters and other items.

Our local theatre came back-up to speed so we have volunteered as ushers in a number of Broadway touring shows and the local symphony.

We are not necessarily dog people since we travel so much but we were fortunate to have Janice’s family pet, Pepper, visit us for a few weeks and we had fun keeping her fit and occupied. (No commitment to our own pet plans).

We had a trip to San Antonio for our God Daughter’s confirmation and visit with her family. They are friends from our time in Korea over twenty years ago.

Come April, we joined up again with our former Chaplain from Cannon AFB and our friend who organizes pilgrimages for a trip to Hawaii to see holy sites, including the island of Molokai where Father Damien cared for lepers in the colony there. An amazing trip that had some free time for the beach at the Hale Koa in Oahu.

After a quick turn at home, we journeyed across the Atlantic on a cruise with Disney. We met some new friends and had a great two week trip with stops in Portugal and Spain. After a few days touring Barcelona, we headed to Greece where we joined Heather’s sister, Janice, and her family and two of the kids’ friends in Athens for a magnificent ten-days of touring Greece. As a group of eight we found amazing locations to stay and see the sights. Heather and Janice even got to drive the narrow, scary roads of Mykonos (not recommended). On our own again, we took a short cruise through the Mediterranean finishing in Rome for a few nights. By the time we were ready to return home, some of the Covid restrictions had ended and travel was easier.

Things were pretty quiet over the summer; in September we made an RV trip for a wedding in Tampa, Disney (riding out hurricane Ian), a trip to Heather’s cousin, Lisa, and her aunt Maureen, then a pilot training reunion with Bruce’s friends in San Antonio. Included were stops to visit friends in Alabama and Louisiana.

The year ended with a trip to Disney with Heather’s Dad and step-Mom to see Siena College in a basketball tournament – they played great - some travel in Florida, a cruise in the Caribbean and then a short Disney visit with friends from Florida. Now it is time to do Christmas Cards. It has been a wonderful year!

Have a Blessed Christmas and Joyful New Year

Heather and Bruce
