From Deadman's Trail

The Russell Family 2022 Christmas Letter

2022    Merry Christmas     2022

We remain healthy, although we both came down with COVID after returning from an extended weekend trip to visit our Granddaughter Katie in Juneau AK. From our perspective the Las Vegas metro area is doing much better this year. Although we spend nearly all our time at home, Pat got out to attend the 366th Gunfighter Reunion in New Orleans in August.

Daughter Kathy remains busy at Nathan Adelson Hospice for three 12 hour night shifts per week.

Second son Andy, daughter-in-law Spon and their children, Naomi (15) in 10th grade, Jonah (12) in 7th and Vance (7) in first are all well. We spent a few days with them in October, driving up in Nita's new Rivian R1T truck. Pat and his brother Mike made a quick trip in November to San Ramon to return Andy's 1999 Mazda Miata on Mike's trailer behind the 2022 Rivian R1T electric truck. Pat did some recovery/restoration on the Miata over the past year. Looking forward to hearing it's back on the road again. We are looking forward to their visit with us over Christmas.

Jim, our oldest, and wife Fran enjoy their home base in Annandale VA. When not traveling for work - they are traveling to see family. Fran's oldest son Jake married Nikki in Atlanta GA in November and her son John is doing well at Arizona State in Tempe. Jim's three children are doing great. Joe is busy working in DC as a member of Arizona's Senator Mark Kelley's staff and wife Danni works for Montgomery County in Maryland. Katie's position with the US Dept of Agriculture in Juneau gets her outdoors in the forests, and she has become quite the sportswoman - salmon fishing, bird hunting and deer hunting. She bagged her first deer this fall using her Greatgrandfather Jim Russell's 270 Winchester Model 70 given to her by Grandpa Pat. Pat's brother Mike gave her a Browning 12ga pump shotgun for duck hunting. Steve is in his junior year at the University of Nevada in Reno, continuing taking business classes.

We received the Rivian R1T electric pick-up we ordered in November 2018 - delivered to our door on September 16th. It is a worthy replacement for Nita's 2002 Chevy Avalanche. We are pleased that the solar panels we've had on the house for the past eight years produce more electricity than the truck uses for local driving. Looks like the 2021 Corvette Convertible will get driven less.

If you are planning a trip to the Las Vegas area - call and come visit!

Wishing you a memorable Holiday season!
Pat & Nita
