2023 Merry
Christmas 2023
We remain healthy, and so blessed that our children
and grandchildren are all well. We continue to enjoy our home in Henderson
that we've been in for 14-years. At the end of April, we took the Rivian
to Reno to link up with Jim and Fran to visit Steve. In September we
drove to Colorado Springs to attend Pat's Air Force Academy Class of
'68 55th Reunion. On September 21st we celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary.
Nita's sister Judy passed away at 70 years old after
a long illness near us in Henderson. We were so fortunate to have visited
her while she was in hospice at home. Her daughter, Cheyenne and husband
Doug had a wonderful celebration of life.
Daughter Kathy is still working near us as a hospice
nurse and taking care of her 18 year old cat, Daphne. She had a terrific
trip to Alaska with her brother Jim and Sister-in-law Fran to visit
Katie and see lots of Alaska - including seeing bears fishing at Katmi.
Son Andy, daughter-in-law Spon and their children: Naomi (16) in 11th
grade, Jonah (13) in 8th and Vance (almost 8) in second - are all well.
We were so pleased that they came to be with us for Nita's sister Judy's
celebration of life service. Son Jim, and wife Fran in Annandale VA,
when not traveling for work - they are traveling to see family. They
visit Fran's oldest son Jake and wife Nikki in Atlanta GA, and her son
John, who will graduate this month from Arizona State, in Tempe. Grandson
Joe is still busy as a member of Senator Mark Kelley's staff, and wife
Danni works for Montgomery County in Maryland. Granddaughter Katie is
with the US Dept of Agriculture in Juneau AK and is quite the sportswoman.
This Fall, using her Greatgrandfather Jim Russell's 270 Winchester Model
70, she bagged a mountain goat. Grandson Steve is a senior at the University
of Nevada in Reno and plans on graduating in June of 2024.
Thanksgiving was very special for us this year. We had
- Jim, Fran, Katie, Steve, Andy, Spon, Naomi, Jonah, and Vance with
Kathy, Nita and Pat over the holiday week. It looks like Christmas for
us will be a bit quieter.
We've had the Rivian R1T electric pick-up over a year,
and it is a terrific vehicle. It is such a pleasure to drive in town,
but a little more challenging when taking a long trip. Our 2021 Corvette
Convertible gets driven less.
If you are planning a trip to the Las
Vegas area - call and come visit!
Wishing you a memorable
Holiday season!
