William Wayne Rowell

William "Wayne" Rowell passed away last week in Waco, Texas. Wayne was a graduate of Fort Valley High School, Class of '64 and the first Peach County native to be nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy. He had 24 years of military service between the Academy, the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard. During his Viet Nam tours in 1969 and 1970 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air medal, plus several other service medals of skill and bravery. Wayne was also a commerical airline pilot for Southwest Airlines the last twenty-two years of his career.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte Jackson Rowell of Carmine, Texas and his daughter, Samantha Rowell, of Los Angeles, California. He was preceded in death by his son Ashley Rowell, his parents, Dorothy and Bill Rowell, and his brother Larry Rowell.
